Chuck
Doarn
Executive Director
Mr. Charles Doarn serves as the Executive Director for NASA's
Commercial Space Center for Medical Informatics and Technology
Applications. Mr. Doarn received his undergraduate degree
in Biological Sciences from Ohio State University with a focus
on Microbiology in 1980. He also received a Masters in Business
Administration from the University of Dayton in 1988. Mr.
Doarn holds faculty appointments at Yale University in the
Department of Surgery as a lecturer and as an Assistant Clinical
Professor in the Department of Community Health at Wright
State University School of Medicine. Mr. Doarn joins the CSC
from NASA Headquarters where he served as the Program Executive
for Aerospace Medicine and Telemedicine for the Space Agency.
He is the principle author of NASA's Integrated Strategic
Plan for Telemedicine and served as the lead for Telemedicine
for the Office of Life and Microgravity Sciences and Applications.
During his tenure at NASA, Mr. Doarn worked closely with the
Space Agency's international partners to develop medical policy,
medical requirements, and medical systems for health care
delivery in human spaceflight. He possesses extensive experience
in working with the Russians and Ukrainians. Mr. Doarn is
an Associate Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association,
a member of the American Telemedicine Association, and a member
of the International Society for Telemedicine. He has published
a number of articles on telemedicine and its application to
human space flight. He has also presented NASA's activities
both domestically and internationally.
